At the evening’s dawn,
people were drawn.
For a party to be,
out by the sea.

Out by the sea,
would these mourners be.
As they spoke in a tone
of rich monotone.

“Christ”, said they
awaiting the day,
“to you her soul
so rich like gold.”

At daybreak they shed
the tears for her death.
Chanting as one
her name in the sun.

As noon did soon come,
their mourning was done.
“A party”, said they,
“till dusk shall we stay.”

Till twilight they fed,
while another was dead.
“We must mourn her now”
spoke a man with a scowl.

At the evening’s dawn,
people were drawn.
For a party to be,
out by the sea.

Strategies

© 2007 The Raven

Some eat because they’re sad
And sad because they eat
How are we suppose to overcome this defeat?
When all we see
Is McKee D’s and Burger King
It’s right around every block
It’s quick and it’s cheap
An all thats on your mind
Is getting home
And going to sleep
Let me break down fast food
Strategies
If they don’t get the adults
Then they’re going to get the kids
Mommy can we go there
Please! Please! Please!
After begging
Repeatedly
The mother agrees
Just so they don’t have to hear
The baby
Scream
I don’t get it
It’s not okay
For a kid to walk in school
With a gun held high
About to go
On a killing spree
But there at McKee D’s
And Burger King
They
Sell you this food
That ends up killing
You Slowly

The Partnership of Sun and Moon

© 2007 wildflowerneu

A message of eternal happiness from above,
Without the everlasting rays of hope there’d be no lov*,
When the sun sets, the moon takes its place,
The moon, beaming with everlasting grace.

Think of our world with no sun or moon,
There’d be no nursery rhyme of the dish and the spoon,
There’d be no night, there’d be no day,
There’d be no clocks or time, just no way.

The sun, the world’s clock, strikes noon,
Which tells workers that lunch is soon,
The rays, striking the shirtless backs,
The cruel sunburn, of which the moon’s power lacks.

The moon, enough light to accentuate our planet,
Reflections from its beam, like newly mined granite,
The people, in deep slumber, empty their minds,
Without the moon, the world would go blind.

Adrift

© 2007 AGP

Cold, cold
One million years old
under the misted gray sky

I live in deep focus
with no pan and scan
to avoid the locus.

A script flies from clammy hands
to the street made of hard black sands.

I skid, flap and tear.

With rain drops, sweet phrases smear.
My chapters flutter in
a crisp, crimson drip of ink.

I disappear into the black water.
I tangle myself in the wet green hair
dangling from these trees.

I die of a natural disease.

Bloody soles morn for the cherry trees;
the withered, brown incrusted leaves.

They walk on
crunch, crunch
my bones to lunch

Cold, cold at
just a million years old;
left adrift without knowing why.

Perpetual State of Illussion

© 2007 poetic enigma

Can you paint me a picture? I want a beautiful watercolor lily picture painted with the hands of love gently cascading across this canvas. I will be your canvas, stroke me gently, and love me completely. Yes make me the watercolor lily. Make me your watercolor lily. Yes, Matisse, that is it, paint my love as if your hands were touched by Matisse.

What is happening….why won’t you paint me my darling, love me, nourish me, heal me, HEAR ME!

Today, now, here, you have unveiled me for all the world to laugh at my vulgar image. I am the distorted image that Van Gogh has painted, I am the replica of the insanity of Goya, I am the pain that on Frida Kahlo herself could depict so well. Yes, I am life and death, and I your giving canvas is consumed with pain.

Unemployment

© 2007 LJJ

Day in and day out
Young men and women
Face the unfair life of this nation.
They go to school year after year
Doing the best for their education

Out in the job market today
Opportunities are in short supply
Or out of season
Children are the future
But where does it lie
Certainly not in this country

Our young people have nothing to do
No jobs, no plans, no future
So to finance their needs and wants
They resort to crime, drugs and prostitution
Sadly bringing down our nation

And when the best of our children
Rise above the rest, creating employment
So they can get the best
Government pulls them down in a heartbeat
With high taxes and unnecessary laws
To our children’s defeat

O God bless our children I pray
And the state of our nation today
And may our children grow wise
And learn to debate and renovate
The unfair life in our country today.

As unemployment remains high
Let us help one another in whatever way we can
As out of many one people we all stand
And bear the trials of this nation,
To our hearts it is so dear

So no matter what,
We will always continue to do
What we can make this nation better
For ourselves, our mate
And our babies to come, soon.
