Desensitized
A tear fell and rippled the ocean
A butterfly refused to leave the cocoon
The movie didn’t have a happy ending
My heart, it died inside
Heard the shouting through the door
Got rejected
Happiness fleets for just a second
A shocked shiver possess me
A child, forgotten
The beggar, robbed
A whole species, gone
Deeply saddened, but cured with a simple embrace
Plane crashed and killed a saint
The greedy control the human race
An evil is malignant
I could only muster was a forced sob
Stars impale and shake the earth
A flood takes the breath of everyone
So simply call me when its doomsday
Because all you are going to get is the answering machine

Behind Closed Curtains
Behind closed curtains,
Rain pounds the ground outside
The sound dulled through the walls
A soothing melody
Wrapped in the covers and wrapped in my thoughts
Warmth so kind
Eyes sealed shut
Don’t make me leave my safe fortress
Behind closed curtains,
And a locked door
Rock music pulsates
Fruity aroma and wet hair
The strands fly and drip to the rhythm
The music consumes my body
Let go of insecurities
I jump, I dance, I shake
Such fun fills me
I let it out in a laugh
Behind closed curtains,
Engulfed in a book
The whirlwind romance
The adventurous journey
My imagination drifts to the clouds
Where I am not me anymore
It’s the only place where it’s acceptable
I am the heroine,
The villain
Facing problems that are not my own
Denying my own
Because
When there is screaming outside
The expectations too high
My friends too distant
And the sadness too strong
I lock my door
And the world breaks down
But it’s okay
Behind closed curtains

Confessions
I have to lay down what’s in my heart;
For they are so heavy within my chest;
Maybe if you would sit down with me;
So that I may simply explain.
My feelings for you are intimate;
But you seem as if not a care;
I just wanted to you take into mind;
That I’ll always be there.
When you need me the most;
I’ll be a true friend;
But you have to give me the chance;
To lie down my confession.
I want you to be in my life;
To forever within my soul;
To share every waking moment;
To live together forever.

Sleeping
Sleeping
used to be my sanctuary
but ever since our last-first kiss
I dread sleep
like waking
and dreams
like taking
that final step
quick like a band-aid
though we both know
it hurts the same
what future did we miss?
what did we expect to find
inside our first and final kiss?
I fear dreaming
cause my mind sees only you
I fear being
cause I fear that call from you
the inevitable
that hasn’t happened yet
Sleeping
was once my sanctuary
now its simply
a necessity
Holy Spirit
rescue me
bring back
my virginity

asleep
That box doesn’t fit me.
You may think it does,
and perhaps I was at one time
willing to be catergorized and organized,
conforming, allowing you to
epitomize ignorance.
But no longer does it fit me.
I’ve allowed for too long the unconcious racists faces
to perpetuate a state of fear.
I’ve heard that song before,
and felt its sting.
Although you’ve seen and felt nothing,
I do not blame.
For its just a game,
just a name, just some way
you say to maintain
some resemblence of order.
If not for fear of loss of control,
The name of the game would be different for all.
Unfortunately you’ve failed to realize
just how large this reaches in size.
You see,
Its all become clear to me.
While true the one sitting next to you
may not know who you are or what you do.
They may not know your ancestral path,
or if your name was once trashed.
But you may find, if you look deep
we are not that different, just asleep.

inquiry (prose)
Have you ever questioned everything you’ve ever known? Inquired all that you’ve ever believed in, all that you’ve never believed in, all that has ever made you happy or sad? Have you thought about the value in all the things around you, including both the important and trivial things to you? What about the values and beliefs held by others? Are you influenced by them? If so, just how much? Have you ever distrusted yourself? Overestimated yourself? Have you ever wondered about the accuracy of your senses, or your ability to reason and make decisions? How about the the things that you believe to exist, especially those that you cannot sense? And most importantly, how do you differentiate right from wrong? Have you ever pondered existence…the way that I do?

The Cold December Morn
HOW LONG WILL IT BE
BEFORE OUR MOTHERS CRY NO MORE
FOR HER SONS AND DAUGHTERS
SENT OFF TO FIGHT A WAR
WONDERING WHEN IT WILL BE
WHEN THEY GET THE DREADED LETTER
“I MISS YOU SO MUCH, MAMA.
AND I’LL LOVE YOU FOREVER.”
SHE DIDN’T GET TO HOLD HER BABY
WHEN FROM THIS WORLD HE PASSED
WRACKING HER BRAIN TO REMEMBER
WHAT WORDS HAD BEEN HER LAST
SHE ONLY HOPES THAT SOMEONE
HAD HOVERED WITH CARE
AND DONE THE THINGS SHE WOULD DO
IF ONLY SHE’D BEEN THERE
SHE CAN NO LONGER READ THE WORDS
SMEARED BY HER TEAR STAINS
AND NOTHING CAN BE DONE
TO EASE THIS AWFUL PAIN
SHE LAYS HIM DOWN TO SLEEP
AS GUNS FIRE IN SALUTE
THE TEARS STREAM FROM HER EYES
AT THIS TIMESLESS TRIBUTE
AND WHEN THE PRIEST IS DONE
TAPS BEGINS TO PLAY
SHE BOWS HER HEAD IN SILENCE
BUT HER HEART SINGS AMAZING GRACE
AND SHE’LL NEVER FORGET
THAT COLD DECEMBER MORN
BECAUSE THE DAY HER CHILD DIED
WAS THE SAME DAY HE’D BEEN BORN

Dragon Ships
Wooden forts, sails of white and red,
Carry dragon ships of Samar.
With men of war, in plate of bronze,
Immortal Tiger Men of Talasar.
My Lady of the waves, see your ships,
Leopards fast and bold.
Cities of the North, proud and rich, will fall,
With their silver and gold.
Proud is your father, King of Storms,
In his bed below.
I will lead my lads of fire, to distant shores,
Islands of Pyraalo.

Queen of Darkness
Ruler of the Sulu Sea, Queen of Cebu,
Call your sail.
Queen of red battle, captain of the fleet,
Don silver mail.
Islands to the south do rebel, their kings plot,
The enemy closes the gate.
Priests cannot speak the truth, Lies leap forth,
Temples test fate.
Queen of Samar, call the legions,
We must stand.
Fair one, command us to slay the false kings,
Let us free the land.
Gems lie to the south, and silver coin,
Their princes steal your gold.
Send the legions, men in bronze,
Your noble warriors bold.
Our cohorts will slay the Evil One;
Death stalks the foul lie.
We will give fell blows to false cities,
Mere rebels must die.
