The Antibiotic Generation

© 2008 Martin

We have grown up so clever the antibiotic generation
Our health much better thanks to Fleming’s little mould
Dished out these little sweets right across our nation
Stopped our runny noses fought the common cold
Kept all those nasty infections safely at bay
Our meat it grew much better we used it on the farm
Were they long term safe for us could anybody say
Drug companies making packets wont do you any harm
Remember finish the course make sure you take them all
Probably it doesn’t matter everything seems just fine
Now the troubles started we are heading for the fall
We’ve abused the wonder medicine there’s precious little time
Can’t make food without them but germs enjoy them too
In hospitals you have to pray that you’ll come out fine
Our hope is with the doctors who research even more
Maybe they’ll find a pathway to a whole new class of drugs
So marvellous and safe they will be found in every store
Hopefully the next generation wont be such stupid mugs
