Explosions destroy pastor's shed
TEXAS CITY — A series of explosions in a utility shed rocked a Texas City neighborhood Saturday.
About 1:15 p.m., Terry Ray said he heard a loud boom and went to a window of his home at 1528 25th Ave. N. to see what happened.
“I thought one of the plants had exploded,” the associate pastor of Baypoint Community Church said.
Ray said he saw smoke coming from his shed and went outside to investigate.
“When I opened the door, there were four or five more explosions and then everything went up,” he said. “It surprised me.”
Miraculously, neither Ray nor anybody else was hurt.
The pastor said he doesn’t know why the explosions occurred.
“I really don’t have any idea,” he said. “The only thing that we can think of is I cut the lawn about two hours before and put it inside and maybe it was too hot and there were about 20 1-pound propane
