Barbara Rowe, from Planting Seeds of Change, dedicated a toolshed at Cascades School in honor of Frankie Gray on Nov. 15.
During the fall, volunteers from Lowe’s and Americorps donated time and materials to rebuild a toolshed behind the school’s greenhouse.
The shed houses many of Gray’s tools, which were donated to the school by her family and members of the garden club along with other tools for use by the school.
“You can tell which tools are Frankie’s, because they have red on the handles,” Rowe said. “The kids know which ones they are and they know they have to be more careful with them.”
Garden club president Joli Root said a few words about Frankie Gray at the dedication ceremony.
“She was just always in good humor,” she said. “Never got her feathers ruffled except if someone picked her flowers.”
Gray was always ready and wanted to be involved in everything, Root said.
“She’d be very happy to be honored in this way,” she said.

REDLANDS: Scout builds garden storage shed for middle school "The kids all have to take their stuff across campus to work in the garden," Cook said. "They needed a place to store their tools." So Cook, with help from his father, Libbern Cook, worked out the plans for a tool shed and built the structure. |

Tidy up your tools But if you're like most people, and tossed into the corner of the garage or shed, then you're going to need a little more elbow grease to get them ready. Dirt-based bacteria and fungus can live on your garden tools even during the colder months. |

Pizza on Earth: Still outta this world The little shingled building, which used to be a tool shed, looks like a wee cottage with a cerulean blue door, with views of well kept flower beds and a small fenced in lawn home to a few scattered picnic tables. If I'm getting way too cutesy for you, |
