A canvas gazebo is a temporary form of a regular gazebo. The structure is held up by a frame, and fabric is draped over that frame with tension to provide a roof and sometimes walls. Gazebos can be used for entertaining at one’s home and also can be used at farmers markets and craft shows as a way to protect the seller’s items from being damaged by the sun. There are a few things to take into consideration when considering using a canvas gazebo.
Frames and colors are important components of the canvas gazebo you choose to purchase. Steel frames seem to be more wind resistant and will avoid the annoying disaster of your gazebo becoming a runaway. The color of the fabric is something you will look at every day that it is up, and will also be what people see when they are coming to your gazebo. If you are using it at a market or fair, you might want it to stand out from ordinary colors, while if you are using it in the middle of a nice suburban town, you may want it to blend in with the trees or your house. Colors of the fabric will probably fade in the sun if left there constantly, so if the colors are important to you, it may be a good idea to take the canvas gazebo down when not in use.

Young artist designs Hastings Park purse for Lexington 300th
The gazebo in Hastings Park is the setting for Zoë Meadow's cigar box purse. Her purse is one of more than two-dozen now on display — and available to be bid on in silent auction — at the Lexington Arts and Crafts Society (LACS), 130 Waltham St. The display is co-sponsored by LACS and the town's 300th Anniversary Celebration Committee . The free exhibit runs through Friday, Oct. 12.
The exhibit also includes vintage gowns thought to be glamorous in their day including elegant wedding gowns, as well as sports attire, kimonos and many other clothing items lent by Lexingtonians to help celebrate Lexington's 300th anniversary of becoming an independent town in 1713.
The silent auction for the purses and specially created jewelry begins at the show and continues at " Breeches, Bloomers and Bellbottoms — Oh My ," a whimsical musical fashion revue on Oct. 27. All proceeds from the cigar box purse project silent auction will go to the town to help fund the 300th's celebration events, which will continue through Memorial Day weekend 2013.
