Eagle Scout candidate Jason Ross, 16, of Boy Scout Troop 25, was to install over the weekend the wooden gazebo near the front doors of the preschool-kindergarten. This final phase of his year-long project included some planting around the gazebo.
“Jason is a great kid and he works really hard,” said Al Williams, scoutmaster of Troop 25 in West Bridgewater.
Ross, a high school junior, set out to build a gazebo in front of the town’s middle-senior high school originally, but changed his project location to the Spring Street School because a new high school was in the proposal stages a year ago.
“Now when parents are picking up their (preschool and kindergarten) children, if the weather is inclement, they’ll have a place to wait,” Williams said.
Central to achieving Eagle Scout status is leadership and fundraising on a complete service project in the community.
