Lions show their generosity
COMMUNITY groups across in and around Malvern will be enjoying a merry Christmas thanks to Malvern Hills Lions.
Once again, the Lions charity has been operating its festive grant scheme, and this year it has given away £895 to seven worthy local organisations.
Among the beneficiaries is the Hanley Swan Pre-School, which was been given £100 to replace toys and equipment which had been vandalised during the summer holidays.
Sara Nelmes of the pre-school said: "We're absolutely delighted.
"Unfortunately we had quite a bit of vandalism over the summer, so it's wonderful that the Lions have given us this money."
Another lucky organisation is the Barnardos Sunshine Childrens Centre, which has been granted £75 to pay for a pop-up gazebo for use at outdoor activities.
Sue Rogers of the centre said: "It's brilliant. We asked the parents and childrten what they wanted and they said the gazebo will be really useful when we do events in parks and so on."
