Tom Herrion’s sideline flop from a year or two ago told me everything I need to know about him. He is absolute garbage.
Frank Giardina is also garbage. I referred to him last night as “Marshall’s guy” as he was the commentator that was paid and hired by Marshall. (John Sanders was hired and paid by WVU). Remember, West Virginia fans are supposed to be the obnoxious ones. Think about that. John Sanders, who barely has a pulse, is WVU’s pick. Frank Giardina, who can watch 12 replays of a Marshall player kicking a WVU player in the man zone without commenting on same, was Marshall’s commentator.
John Sanders clearly was hesitant to say anything that was the least bit negative about Marshall the entire game. He appeared to defer to Giardina to say those things when they were right in front of their faces . . . but Giardina never did. The whole commentary last night was simultaneously hilarious, insulting, and confusing.
Strange that WVU is covered by, for the most part, disinterested parties. I don’t think Mike Casazza, Bob Hertzel, or Dave Hickman really care if WVU wins or loses. (Well, sometimes it seems like Hertzel likes when WVU loses). Doug Smock and Chuck Landon (Landon who also missed the kick to the you-know-where in his column today) are clearly Marshall fans, which is also hilarious and ridiculous. Both found space to comment that WVU had more players ejected than Marshall due to an incident that involved the kick and several players leaving the bench but not doing anything else.
